Too many garden contractors/landscape architects find themselves being owed money by a client who insists that the work is sub standard and not finished. Often this is a ploy by your client to save money when the work completed is both of a good standard and as agreed. Some contractors find themselves in a situation where work is left unfinished due to a missed stage payment by the client. Money is often owed to the contractor but the client is refusing to pay anymore until unrealistic demands are met. This stalemate can cause untold problems, delays and at worst legal action.

Site Visit

If you contact Head Squared for independent advice on how to resolve your issues with your client it is imperative the clients name not be mentioned. Head Squared must be totally impartial in any resolution situation.

A site visit is organised where a Head Squared Staff member will visit and review the works. Photographs will be taken and a detailed summary of standards of work will be made. You may wish to receive independent feedback at this stage verbally which could be of use moving forwards. If you wish for a report to be written highlighting the positives and negatives of the work, this is step two.

Independent Report

If as a contractor you wish to have an aide-memoir to use when discussing works with your client this can be organised. This will be a fully integrated report providing a balanced opinion about works carried out. It will include photographic evidence and, if necessary, examples of the desired finish. This enables a comparison of the actual finish and that which was expected.

The report will be in depth and will encourage references to Building Regulations (where appropriate) and best practice where Building Regulations do not apply. It will comment on both structural issues and aesthetic issues where possible.

This report style has helped parties to reach a resolution with their contractor as a last resort prior to legal action. If legal action is the only option, Head Squared can help provide evidence. Please Contact Us to discuss this more specialised area.

N.B The report may only make reference to any professionals that need to be contacted to make comment. These may include Chartered Surveyors, Chartered Structural engineers or local authority building regulations personnel.
