Does your client have a pond that is not running correctly and the set up makes as much sense to you as Nuclear physics? (Nuclear Physicists please ignore that).
There are some wonderful myths about pond filtration which put a smile on some of the industry professionals faces. No matter how much anyone tells you, sponge is not a great medium for cleaning. Yes, it will polish your water extremely finely but it will block in a short space of time and leave you with weekends getting wet and cold to maintain your filter and rinse out those sponges.
Many of the filters sold by aquatics shops and garden centres will incorporate sponge. These box filters will normally claim they can maintain a larger capacity of water that is actually true. The truth is, no box filter full of sponge will keep a lake clean, whatever you are told.
Whether you client has inherited a pond or has built one him/herself, they may find that niggling feeling that the water is not crystal clear as they wished and that the time spent looking after their pond is not time well spent. They must not despair as help is at hand. At Head squared Aquatics we understand the filter systems available. We can advise whether their filter is simply not set up correctly or whether it is not adequate for the purpose it was intended. All may not be lost, we may be able to incorporate their existing system with slight modifications or a small add on may make all the difference.
