Pond Design

When designing a pond there are many site specifics that need to be taken into account. Once you have decided on a style of pond (for example formal or informal), you must decide whether above ground or below ground. What lining materials to be used? Should you use butyl liner, fibreglass or something else? Will it be bottom drain fed, mid feed or pump fed? The answers to these questions depend very much on whether your desire is a natural pond (plants), a fish pond or a koi pond.

The Plan for designing your pond

If the plan is clear and concise, the product selection and eventual finish should be good. If the pond seems to develop over time and new ideas are incorporated during the construction phase, you could be left with an expensive mistake. The pond world has had many technical advances in recent years to make the life of you, the pond owner, far simpler. Please feel free to make use of our vast experience during the planning phase. Correct planning and product selection is not something to be overlooked.

RHS Chelsea Flower Show - Gold Winner

We have links with a number of Landscape architects and are proud to boast extremely close links with Mark Davis. Mark is an RHS Chelsea flower show gold winner and an RHS gold winner with rosette at Hampton Court. Marks designs have inspired many writers and many aquatic books today use Mark's ponds for photographic illustration. Mark no longer designs gardens but has agreed to design exclusively for Head Squared clients. If you feel your garden or outside space deserves the Mark Davis/Head Squared touch, please contact us.
